We will be offering a ‘Dominant Defenders’ workshop during the Easter holidays, on Tuesday 12 April, 10am – 2pm, open to Flames players in years 9-11.

A workshop for players wishing to develop their defending skills and tactics in and around the defending circle.  Will cover: 

• Specific movement for circle defenders – footwork, body angles, moving around a player without causing contact 
• marking the shot and ‘boxing out’ 
• Rebounding positions 
• Denying space;  
• When to be ball side, when to mark post side 
• Working in Partnership with another defender 
• Reading the playing preferences and patterns of shooters 

*Bring warm clothes and waterproofs as the workshop will be held outdoors 

*Bring plenty to drink, a packed lunch and healthy snacks for the day. 

The workshop will be free of charge, but please email hello@flamesnetball.co.uk before Friday 8th April to book a place.

The Spring committee meeting was held Monday 7th March at 7.30pm, the minutes can be found here.

The next meeting will be Monday 9th May at 7.30pm – all welcome!!

The new dresses have arrived! Three years on from the first bake sale, the full team kit is here.

Dresses will be given out on Friday night to the U16 and U14 teams. We will wait to give out the U11 kit until we have a match.

Each player will need to return their old kit, and bring the signed issue form which can be found here.

If you have a problem printing there will be some forms at the practice session, but they must be signed by the parent rather than the child 🙂

We haven’t received a full timetable as yet, but the times for Sunday 30th January have been published:

Bright Flames

vs. Hotshots Megashots: 13:30pm, Court 4

vs. Baschurch Bombers: 15:30, Court 4

Fiery Flames

vs. Tibberton: 12:30, Court 4

vs. Recycle Pumas: 14:30, Court 3

There aren’t any matches for Flickering Flames or U11 scheduled that day.

We ‘ve been sent some revised dates for matches this coming term, but no timetable as yet.

We’ll let you know more detail as soon as we have it. We’ve been told that U16 Bright Flames shouldn’t have matches on the 27th March as we will have a lot of children doing DofE activities instead that day.

The results of the sponsored Hoopathon are finally in – we have raised £865!

Well done everyone, that is a magnificent amount of money. That, alongside the grants we have also secured, means that we have been able to place the order for dresses for the entire club and a few spare with the hope of getting some new members.

Hopefully they will be here in time for the Spring fixtures…

The latest newsletter contains information about our first Shropshire Junior Netball League Matches at Telford this weekend, as well as lots of Good News!

The Reverend Henry Fletcher’s, Munslow’s and Poor’s Land Charity has very generously given us another grant, this time for £100, and specifically to purchase the new match balls that we need to get for each of the Flames teams to play in the league this season.

A huge thank you to secretary Sophie and the rest of the committee for your consideration – the daughters and granddaughters of the parish will really benefit from the financial support you have given.
